What items cannot be legally sold or traded on Ruby Lane?
Items subject to local prohibitions, specific limitations in regard to interstate commerce or import/export regulatory restrictions may be considered an item that cannot be legally sold or traded.
For instance, in the United States, commerce in items composed of parts of
endangered or threatened species like tortoiseshell or ivory, is strictly regulated and may require special permits. Selling some animal substances, such as bald eagle feathers, may be subject to complete prohibition. It should be noted that adding the phrase, 'pre-ban' to a listing for such items has no standing or legal merit.
Other types of items that should not be listed on the Ruby Lane Family of Sites, due to various country specific, state or local regulations, would be items such as
firearms or alcoholic beverages. Items later recalled by a manufacturer due to a recognized danger to the consumer should also not be offered for sale in a Ruby Lane shop.
To provide better service in alerting the American people to unsafe,
hazardous or defective products, six federal agencies with vastly
different jurisdictions have joined together to create www.recalls.gov
-- a "one stop shop" for U.S. Government recalls. http://www.recalls.gov
