Question Title What are the Book Lane requirements?
In addition to the Common Requirements, we require Book items, i.e. those that begin with the word Books in the category string, to meet these quality standards:
  • Book items must be at least 20 years old, of high quality, authentic, and not reproductions.
  • Minimum sale price for any Book item is $10 USD.
  • Book items not yet 20 years old can qualify to be listed only if these conditions are met:
    • The book is a reference book or price guide published for collectors, and
    • it mainly contains items that qualify to be listed in a Lane.
  • If a reference book or price guide is new the listing should state "new", as in brand new and never read.
  • If a reference book or price guide is not new the listing should state "used" or offer other clear indication that it is not "new".
  • Publishing information available in or on a book must be clearly stated in the listing. For example: Author(s), publisher, print year, edition number, ISBN number.
  • All books must be listed in the Books Lane.
  • Specifically excluded from being listed in Books Lane are:
    • Any book less than 20 years old that is not a reference book or price guide published for collectors.
    • Any reference book or price guide published for collectors that mainly contains items that are not allowed on Ruby Lane.
  • Additional requirements for Books: Antiques subcategory:
    • Books: sub category Antique items must be high quality pieces that are 100 years old or older.
    • If a title page with publishing information is present it must be shown and be clearly readable in at least one photo.
    • Minimum sale price for any Books: sub category Antique item is $50 USD.
