Do you sometimes delay or deny a new shop from opening? If so, why? |
|
Yes we do. In all the excitement of getting a shop ready for opening, new applicants often fail to carefully read the common requirements for having a shop on Ruby Lane and important Lane guidelines. This happens with over 50% of new applicants. In addition to the reasons listed below there are others, so make sure to carefully review the shop Pre-Opening Checklist, common shop requirements, and Lane guidelines in advance, to ensure your shop and item listings are in compliance and your shop is ready to open.
- Poor item photos. Dark, blurry and/or inadequate photos. Photos that do not enlarge properly on the Larger Views page
- Keyword Spam. This is the practice of using keywords in titles or text that are not directly and unmistakably connected to an item. The Ruby Lane search engine ranks items higher based on title and category keywords, so using keywords in an item's title or category that are not definitive or which may not actually relate to the item is not permitted.
- Inadequate item description (How big is it? Is it damaged?)
- Item is incorrectly identified.
- Item is not listed in the correct Lane or has been given improper categories.
- Item does not meet antique/collectible age expectations; or other specific requirements by Lane.
- Contemporary Reproductions have been listed.
- Multiples of the same item are listed separately.
- Inappropriate text such as 'All sales Final' or auction terminology ('You are bidding on...') placed within listings.
- "Borrowed" item descriptions or photos from another Web site or individual.
