Do you have any tips to help me encourage Google to index my listings? |
|
All search engines prefer useful and relevant content. Google's content policy restricts listings, which advertise merchandise, to text that is specific to the item. You may already know to avoid keyword spam but product data fields like titles and descriptions should not contain promotional statements about yourself or your shop, re-usable text, or blocks of text 'borrowed' from another website.
Don't place shipping instructions or repetitive store policy statements inside item descriptions. This information should be made available elsewhere, such as on your Terms of Sale page or use the 'Non-Searchable' text box below the description in the listing. Search engines like Google will not penalize a shop for text it can no longer see.
We also recommend avoiding gimmicks or tricks, like adding unnecessary punctuation, keyboard symbol art, or using incorrect capitalization. In order to encourage Google to pick up and include your listings in their searches, describe the item you have for sale, and add nothing more.
