What are the specifications for my photos? |
We recommend that your images be in JPG format, however, we also accept GIF and BMP. Ruby Lane allows shops to add up to 9 photos, different angles of a single item, in order to communicate to prospective buyers as much information about the item as possible.
For the best results images should be 1024 pixels wide by 1024 pixels
high (when possible.) We recommend your item photos be square or as
close to square as possible. Photos that are not square may appear
cropped either in width or height when viewing the item thumbnail photo
on the item page. Once you enlarge the thumbnail, the photo will display
properly. Larger images will automatically be resized to 1024 pixels
wide or high. Images that are too small, 500 pixels wide or less, may
appear grainy when the image is enlarged because the photo contains too
few pixels to enlarge and achieve a sharp, clear image.
Our photo imaging software does not require an image to be of a specific resolution (dpi - Dots per Inch). Our software reduces all images over 1024 pixels wide or high. There is no maximum file size for images. Our software may compress images to insure they can be viewed quickly. The smallest setting on your digital camera is normally ideal for website use.
