Question Title How do I purchase an item from Ruby Lane?

If you've seen an item on Ruby Lane that you would like to Purchase or Make An Offer, you'll need to contact the shop through which it is offered. If you only see a picture of the item, click on the picture to see the item's page and read the description. If you are already registered on Ruby Lane, we ask you to Sign In. If not, you are directed to our registration page to give us your name, address, email and phone number (optional). We only give a shop your information when you submit a purchase or offer. Once you register, you do not have to keep filling in this information for future orders.

Step by Step instructions

If you are purchasing a single item or a multiple quantity of the item is available:

  • Click the Add to Shopping Cart button.
  • If there are multiple quantities of the item:
    • You will see a Quantity box located above the item photo with a a downward pointing arrow, click the arrow and select the quantity you wish to purchase from the list.
    • The quantity will automatically update and you will receive a message stating the update is successful.
  • You can continue shopping if you choose, or you can proceed to checkout.
  • When you are ready to make your purchase check the Checkout Button for the items you wish to purchase.
  • Items in your shopping cart from more than one shop cannot be combined into a single purchase order. When checking out items from more than one shop, use the Checkout button in your shopping cart for each shop. The individual shop will then receive its own purchase order for your transaction.
  • If you wish to remove an item from your shop cart, use the Trash Can icon located above the item photo.
  • If you wish to add an item in your Wish List, use the Heart icon located above the item photo.
  • Items placed in your Shopping Cart remain for 90 days, unless purchased, removed or added to your Wish List.
  • Ensure that your Personal information is correct. If you need to update it, do so, and check the box to update your personal information on our records.
  • Add a different shipping address if required (please note that the shop may not be willing to ship to a different address).
  • Add any additional information.
  • Select your chosen payment method*
  • Click the Purchase Now button.
  • To track, view and pay for your purchase, go to My Account

If the item is marked Offers Considered and you wish to make an offer:

  • Click the Make an Offer button.
  • Enter the price you wish to offer in the box.
  • Ensure that your Personal information is correct. If you need to update it, do so, and check the box to update your personal information on our records.
  • Add a different shipping address if required (please note that the shop may not be willing to ship to a different address).
  • Add any additional information.
  • Select your chosen payment method*
  • Click the Make an Offer button.
  • You have two opportunities to make an offer:
    • Your first offer may be accepted, countered, or sent to the seller for their consideration.
    • If countered, you have the choice to make one more offer.
    • Your second offer may be accepted, turned down, or sent to the seller for their consideration.
    • If your offer is accepted, you have committed to purchase the item at your offer price. IMPORTANT NOTE: Very low offers will return a counteroffer near the original price. Make realistic offers for the best deal.
  • To track, view and pay for your offer, go to My Account

*Please note that simply selecting PayPal or Amazon as an option does not mean that you have paid. Payment by PayPal or Amazon is a separate process. After submitting the form, an email is sent to the independent shop owner and you. The shop owner will then contact you shortly to arrange for payment and shipping of the item. Ruby Lane is not involved in the transaction. You can also contact a shop owner directly by phone, email, or regular mail if they have chosen to display that information. Make sure you read and understand each shop's Terms of Sale before you commit to purchasing an item from them.
